Wanderlust: Where would I like to travel?

Hello my lovelies, and a very happy Friday to you all! Thankfully, the weather's been a bit kinder to us here up in Newcastle, which has ultimately inspired me to conduct a post dedicated to where I'd love to travel to!

Admittedly, I've not ventured far in my short lifetime, just general holidaying with my mum over summer, however I have been lucky enough to visit London, Paris, New York and California. California was probably my favourite as it was specifically Hollywood that we were in - we had an absolute blast going to Universal Studios, being in the audience for a Jay Leno talk show, cruising the streets of L.A. in search of celebrities - it was phenomenal. But it's experiences like these that just fuelled my wanderlust further. So, below I compiled a brief list of all the places in the world I wish to go adventuring in...

South Africa: Up first and foremost on my list is South Africa, for the primary reason that I desperately crave to go safariing someday. Ever since I was a child, and had no brothers and sisters to talk or confide in in my younger years, I would turn to animals for comfort - I adore animals. South Africa would also be a place steeped in culture and history and I would love to experience the South African music scene as well, from hip hop, kwaito and gospel to pop and alternative rock, it would be incredible to immerse yourself in such a vivid civilisation! Additionally, I'd also love to experience some of the adrenaline induced adventure that South Africa has to offer, such as snorkelling with seahorses in Knysna or trekking in the North Cape.

Hawaii: You can't get more relaxed than Hawaii, am I right? When you think of Hawaii, admit it, you instinctively think of crystal blue waters with tranquil beaches and being greeted by the natives with a necklace of flowers. It is this serenity that admittedly draws me to it - the blissful detachment of cities and stress. I don't want to pretend to surf here in the UK, I want to go to where it's famed for its surfing, and whilst on the subject of physical activities, I also want to learn how to dance - to Hula dance to be precise! I also desperately want to explore the Hawaiian Islands and, as soppily unadventurous as it sounds, I'd also love nothing more than to just witness the sun set whilst blissfully sipping away at an island cocktail with a warm sea breeze to keep me company.

Japan: I think you probably saw this one coming, given my love for all things kawaii ^_^ I'd love to attend the district of Harajuku and just absorb the fashion there; I'd be buying so many garments and accessorises that I'd need a plane all to myself so I could fit all my wonderful kawaii souvenirs! And what could be more beautiful than attending a Japanese temple amidst the cherry blossom within view of the majesty of Mount Fuji? The pure beauty of this country would leave me in absolute awe! Another thing which I would be dying to try would be authentic Japanese sushi, right from the source - I'd be in my element, sat there watching the rotating tables filled with platters and plates of yumminess.

Italy: One word - food. I guarantee that I would come home from Italy about 10 stone heavier as I would hoover up any and all of it's fantastic food in my sight. Like Japan, I want to savour the cuisine from the source of it's origin, spaghetti, pizza, lasagne, and just take pleasure in the taste of Italy, because you sure as hell don't get dining much finer back in Northern Ireland (spuds, so many spuds)... But food aside, I'd relish in the history of Italy, and be a proper little tourist about it too, visiting the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, ahhh my head would be dizzy! Not forgetting, it'd also be a place infused with fashion, featuring gorgeous boutiques and fabulous shopping streets, I fear that I'm come home quite a broke little bunny.

Where would you like to travel to?

  1. It definitely feels like spring is upon Newcastle! and I hope the weather stays lovely for the coming week!
I'd love to visit Japan and Hawaii. In fact I would love to have a honeymoon in Tokyo and go to Disneyland but it's so expensive. It's like £1000 just for the flight.
I love kawaii stuff too (hey kawaii and hawaii rhyme...why have I only noticed this!)

Apart from Hawaii and Japan. I would like to visit The Netherlands, Sweden (because they have such great style over there!) and Canada :)

  2. One thing I really want to do is go on an African safari! It would be amazing. My boyfriend really wants to visit Japan, so I see myself visiting sometime in the future - he's studying the language, and is pretty much obsessed with all things Japanese xD

I've been to Venice, and the pizza/spaghetti was delicious. Venice itself was lovely too - the canals and streets are so pretty! Besides that, I've never really been anywhere that exciting - just spain aha! I'm lucky that I get to visit Finland in April (it's part of an expedition I planned as part of a uni module!) and that'll be something different! Looking forward to visiting the Arctic Circle :3

    1. I KNOWWW! Seeing all the animals in their natural wild habitats would be such an experience :) And wow, impressive! Well, you should tell him that he's gotta completely immerse himself in the culture i.e. go to Japan and bring you with him!

And oh my! That sounds amazing! I can imagine Finland being lovely in April, very crisp, pure and beautiful, ya lucky thing!

  3. I really want to visit Washington DC that's my biggie at the moment - especially in cherry blossom season, see all the museums, the White House and the history. That and eventually getting around to doing our roadtrip from where we live in Michigan down though the roads of the states down to Florida - getting off the free-ways and exploring all the way.

    1. AWWW Danielle ya cutie! And wow, you've been to New Zealand!? I would kill to go there! Pretend I'm in Lord of the Rings and dance around the greenery :) And you lucky thing! The west coast is so lovely, and the people seem to be MUCH friendlier in the west than in the east in my opinion :) GO TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, it was fabulous! And make sure you keep an eye out for people giving away freebies in the street on Hollywood Blvd, that's how we got our free talk show tickets! But you'll absolutely love it pretty lady!

  5. Japan is without a doubt my favourite place in the world. I was lucky enough to spend a month in the countryside there last year, living with a Japanese family in a small village and learning traditional puppet theatre and the language. It was incredible! It's a country of such contrasts but everywhere I went in Japan's was beautiful, you could be wondering the paths of a hill top temple and walk five minutes to a bustling, busy area of town (I also saw a geisha girl parade. The definition of grace). Definitely go there If you can but don't just stick to Tokyo! In my opinion Kyoto is the most beautiful area of japan.

That sounds so amazing! :) And I think I'd start crying if I saw a geisha girl parade, it'd be so magical and surreal! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, Kyoto is most definitely on my list now!

  6. I want to go to Japan too! I've wanted to go since I was in my early teens and got into Japanese culture :)

Italy is absolutely gorgeous. I went with my mum a few years ago, we went to Pompeii which was brilliant, climbed the volcano and then went for a lot of sightseeing in Rome. The pizza is to DIE for, pizza here just isn't the same! :(

I really want to go to Budapest because every photo of seen of there is absolutely stunning. And Bruges!

    1. New York and France are both beautiful but to be brutally honest, I found that in both places, the people could have been a tad friendlier! However, I guess New York is a pretty hectic city and the city that never sleeps, so some poor souls are bound to be stressed! And awk, you wee homebird! :)

  15. That is an awesome list of destinations! I was lucky enough to tour Japan for three weeks, when I worked with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, and may I say, it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. Just surreal and amazing. If you get chance, you really must go. (Plus the shopping is freaking amazing!)

I don't think I've ever visited Newcastle, how's life up there? I found Northern Ireland beautiful, super friendly place : )

I can imagine it'd be like stepping into another world with their extraordinarily eccentric fashions and styles :) And Newcastle's fabulous darling, I love it to bits! It's not like a hugely built up city, but they have some gorgeous architecture here :) And Northern Ireland is pretty friendly to be fair, I do miss home at times too though :')
