Liebster Award! I'd like to thank God, my family...

So, last week I was nominated for infamous Liebster Award, by two people no less! I honestly couldn't describe my excitement at the thought that my little blog was actually going places - made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this award, it's a friendly blogger token that's given to a newbie blogger that has less than 200 followers, just to give them the confidence of finding their feet in the blogging world! I, personally, was nominated by the magnificent Minnie Michelle and the brilliant Blonde Velvet Lover.

The Rules:

  • You must link back to the person who nominated you.
  • You have to state 11 facts about yourself.
  • You have to answer the questions given to you.
  • You have to pick 11 nominees and create a set of 11 questions that they must answer.
  • You can't nominate the person that nominated you.
  • You have to tell the nominees that they have been nominated by you.

11 Facts About Me:

  1. This one may shock a lot of you but... I'm actually not a big fan of ice cream, is it ironic/idiotic if I say that it's too cold for me?
  2. I love the looks I get from children (little girls in particular) when they first notice I have pink hair - their faces just light up!
  3. Even though my outward appearance dictates that I'm obviously a design student, I actually currently work as a carer, and am loving every minute of it.
  4. Growing up, I went through every adolescent phase imaginable in order to "find myself." I was a tomboy, a chav, a grunger, a goth, an emo... Ahhh the list is endless. I'm just happy being me now!
  5. I'm obsessed with milk bubble tea! It's the sweetness followed by the satisfying gooeyness of the bubbles that I love, and yes, some people do say that the tapioca reminds them of frog spawn, but whatever, that shit be good!
  6. When I was a child, I was so captivated by American culture (it, coupled with my scorn for living in Northern Ireland) that I actually adopted an American accent. There is even video proof of me talking with a twang and referring to money as "dollars" What the actual fuck...
  7. I collect kitschy animal figurines, and have little ceramic deers, owls, cats, etc back home all sitting patiently, waiting for my return.
  8. Last year at university, we were brought to the Newcastle Medical Centre for anatomy drawing class. There were heads in jars, organs on tables and limbs everywhere - it was SO cool.
  9. I would love to punch Ant and Dec square in the face.
  10. For GCSE I was studying History, however I dropped it due to me thinking it was a useless subject and that "past information has no relevance now" blah blah blah. However, when it came round to my A-Levels, I harboured such a newfound love for it that I took it back up again - and scored myself a cheeky wee A*!
  11. One of the first time's I ever stayed over at my boyfriends house, I went to take a shower, sounds pretty standard, right? That was until I got stuck in said shower due to the shower doors being faulty and had to call out for help after about an hour of me being trapped. The same happened again when I got stuck in one of their bathrooms as the lock didn't function properly - it was his parents who had to rescue me... Both times...

Nominee Questions:
Considering I was nominated by two lovely ladies, I decided to mix and match the questions!

Who/what inspired you to blog?
I remember quite some time ago discovering a blog for the first time as I was looking for some tips and tricks regarding haircare. The blogger was so real and raw in her reviews that I knew I was hooked! I was inspired to create my own as a form of channeling my creativity, plus I don't have many hobbies as it is, and I find blogger a highly therapeutic and enjoyable pastime!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
This one's a bit of a no brainer  - I'd love to live in America. They don't call it the land of opportunity for nothing, eh?

What is your favourite hobby?
I adore nothing more than attending a good vintage fair or going thrifting! It's such an adrenaline rush when you finally hunt out a beautiful bargain. Plus, I love the atmosphere at vintage fairs, it's like being plummeted back into the 50's, with the quirky music and the abundance of tea and cake!

What's the most you've spent on one item of clothing/makeup?
Not sure if this constitutes as clothing or not, however I do own and adore my red heart-shaped Vivienne Westwood handbag that I treated myself to on my 21st birthday. It's my bag baby, and you'll usually find my cooing over it and stroking it.

What are your top three staple wardrobe pieces?
The first one that definitely springs to mind is my Alexa Chung Topshop nautical coat as it's so versatile! I'm also a huge dress fanatic, and you'd rarely catch me in trousers/shorts! And lastly, you can never go wrong with a decent pair of brogues!

What was the first makeup product you ever bought?
Just the thought of the answer has me cringing! I remember when I was about 11/12 I bought my first ever Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse, in a desperate attempt to cover some spots that puberty had thrown at me. And I did just that... Covered JUST the blemishes, without blending. I was such a patchy mess!

Subtle or bold makeup?
When I was going through those years filled with teenage angst and rebellion, I was definitely more into my bold makeup, with my Amy Winehouse-esque eyeliner, bright pink cheeks and vibrant lipstick. However now, I tend to wear makeup a bit more subtly.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I'm very prone to anxiety and depression, as I've struggled with it all my life. However, in a way though, it's what makes me who I am and I wouldn't be where I am right now without living through all my experiences and struggles.

What is the thing you want to do most in life?
Be happy.

What product could you not live without?
I've been a religious user of Estée Lauder's Double Wear Makeup since about the age of 16. When going through phases of acne and blemishes, it has given me the confidence I needed to go out and face the world! (Jesus, sounds like I'm advertising for them!).

What has been your worst fashion mistake?
Looking back at my ageing wardrobe, there have been to many to count! However if I had to pick one... Coming from Northern Ireland, we're big into our Gaelic Football (which is basically identical to regular football, only there's extra poles on the pitch, above the goalkeeper where you can also score "points") and so when I was young and very naive, I used to wear Gaelic jerseys like they were going out of style. I even once donned a Dublin jersey for the duration of my stay at DisneyLand and looked like a right tit too.

  1. Describe yourself in one word.

  2. Haha, I may have also gone through a few too many phases. 'Greebo' was one of them. I even re-call a matching tracksuit in lilac and some jeans with the playboy bunny on them... yep. That was me.

I've come across plenty of people giving me some weird looks for coloured hair but the children do seem to like it. :)

I love reading your answers to these questions!

Thank you for the nomination, I also have another one. Maybe I will do the same as you and combine them together. I just haven't had time to write the post out yet.
